Hey, I'm Joshua Butt — I edit commercials for a living, and I love what I do.

I grew up in New Jersey, went to film school in Florida at Full Sail University, and for the past fifteen years, I've been based in Los Angeles. Starting out in production for film and television, I learned the necessary skills needed to work under pressure, on deadlines, and collaboratively with colleagues to complete a project. Eight years ago I made the switch to post production, and am currently cutting stories for brands like Walmart, Taco Bell, Verizon, and Nintendo. Big names, big campaigns — but what really keeps me hooked is the creative process.

Editing, for me, is all about feel. It's about knowing when to hold a moment, when to make the cut, and how to shape footage into something that actually speaks. Something that sticks.

Sometimes you get the perfect shot, and sometimes you don't — and that's where I come in. I love working with what's there, finding the heartbeat of a project, building something that just works, and seeing the entire process through from the edit to the conform and even delivery.

I’m currently specializing in commercial assistant editing with a focus on media organization, troubleshooting, and conforming and delivering the edits, so if you're looking for an assist, or conform/delivery artist and you're into stories that move, let's talk! I would make a great addition to your company and/or project. Looking forward to the next edit!
